Oregon fights past Rhode Island 75-72 behind Tyler Dorsey to advance to 2nd straight Sweet 16

For the first time in school history, No. 3 seed Oregon is playing in its second consecutive Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament after defeating No. 11 Rhode Island XX-XX Sunday in the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. Tyler Dorsey led the Ducks with 27 points, including 17 in the second half. He finished 9 of 10 from the field and hit a go-ahead three with 38.4 seconds left. Oregon continued their undefeated start with a 2-1 win against Cal.  This continues the trend of this weekend with close come from behind wins.  Miranda Elish kept her team close by only allowing one run and even had a double at the plate.  Danica Mercado came up with the eventual game winning triple that clinched this weekend series for the Ducks.  Oregon will go for the sweep tomorrow with first pitch at noon. SB: #3 Ducks drop #23 Cal 5-1 to begin Pac-12 play

The #3 Oregon Ducks began Pac-12 play the same way they began the season--winning. However, this game was different. The Ducks did not dominate the game in the same fashion they are used to, but Maggie Balint pitched out of two timely jams and Gwen Svekis connected for her fourth home run of the season. Oregon defeats Iona 93-77 in First Round of NCAA Tournament

The No. 14 seed Iona made it interesting with No.3 Oregon thanks to a rally in the second half and were down a single point ten minutes into the game. But the Ducks shot 56% for the game and out rebounded the Gaels 41-27 in a 93-77 victory. Oregon will face either No. 6 seed Creighton or No. 11 Rhode Island Sunday in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. Listen to full postgame audio below.
