STORY: Oregon's Defense Returns to the 3-4 Under Jim Leavitt

After consecutive seasons that ended with Oregon's defense at the bottom of country in nearly every statistical category, 2017 brings new head coach Willie Taggart along with new defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt to Eugene with improvement on that side of the ball as the emphasis. Leavitt brings back the 3-4 scheme, reverting to a similar style the 2015 Ducks played after one year in the 4-3. The shift presents changes for players like Henry Mondeaux and Jalen Jelks along the defensive line, compounded with the challenges of a unit largely inexperienced at the collegiate level. STORY: Oregon's Young Offensive Line Paving the Way for Successful Rushing Attack

Despite not leading the Pac-12 Conference in rush yards per game for the first time in 11 years in 2016, the Oregon Ducks' young offensive line had a successful season. Four redshirt freshman started a combined 46 of 48 possible games supporting a deep running back unit. Now a year older and more experienced along with the return of a couple of veteran linemen, Oregon's group of now-redshirt sophomores is leading the way for what should be a difficult run game to stop in 2017.
