STORY: The Duck Defense Searches for Turnovers in 2017

"Bend but don't break" was the term often used with Oregon's defenses of the past. Referencing the Ducks' ability to allow teams to chew up yardage, but using situational defense and forcing turnovers to prevent the offense from scoring. The 2016 defense did nothing but break, forcing only 12 total turnovers all year. And though the coaching staff has changed, forcing turnovers and giving the offense more opportunities remains an emphasis. In their season opener against Southern Utah, Oregon managed two takeaways with interceptions from Ugo Amadi and Troy Dye. The Ducks will look to continue the trend and hope that more turnovers will turn the tide of the defense in 2017. Oregon Defense Looking for Turnovers in 2017 (by Alex Castle)… Read More

STORY: Kani Benoit's Sacrifice, Talent Lead to Career Game

The Oregon Ducks have one of the deepest backfields in the nation. Leading the running back unit is potential Heisman candidate Royce Freeman. The talent doesn't stop there, though, for the Ducks. Behind Freeman, Oregon boasts two other running backs that could likely start at a number of other schools. Tony Brooks-James, who was voted as the team's most outstanding offensive player a season ago, sits at the second-string spot. Behind him is Kani Benoit, who rushed for career highs in both yards and touchdowns Week 1 against Southern Utah. Not only was Benoit's talent on display with his three-touchdown game, but also the running back unit's patience and sacrifice as a whole.
