Oregon Volleyball found out Sunday night it will play its first match of the postseason in Provo, Utah against Kennesaw State at 3PM PST Friday afternoon. The Ducks, who ended a four match losing streak with a 5 set victory over Oregon State last Friday, will play the winner of BYU-American on Saturday if they prevail over Kennesaw State. Oregon started off strong, fell behind and eventually lost to the Oklahoma Sooners in the 5th place Victory bracket game of the Phil Knight Invitational Sunday. The Ducks finish the tournament with one win and two losses. The Ducks retained just three players from last year's roster and Head Coach Dana Altman's objective to find his team's identity may have to be put on hold. Altman admitted post-game that Oregon has a lot of work to do and that he expected his team to play far better than they have up to this point. The Ducks gradually fell apart while turning over possession seventeen times which allowed the Sooners to score 20 points from those turnovers. The two teams swapped sets the entire match. The Ducks won 25-22, 16-25, 25-21, 21-25, and 15-9. A balanced offensive attack paced Oregon to victory on Friday night as five different Ducks were in double figures in kills. Ronika Stone led the way with 14 kills, followed by Taylor Agost (12), Willow Johnson (11), Lindsey Vander Weide (11), and Jolie Rasmussen (10). The win is Oregon's first since a November 9th sweep of Arizona State in Tempe, Arizona. Oregon now awaits its postseason fate to determine where and when the team will play in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. Oregon Men's Basketball earned their first win in the Phil Knight Invitational through an overtime battle against the DePaul Blue Demons, 89-79. Led by Portland native Payton Pritchard, Oregon's ammunition never ran out and out shot DePaul with a shooting percentage of 45. With that being said, Oregon had 39 three point attempts but only made 15; yet, the Ducks got the win. Pritchard's 29 points and eight assists electrified the crowd full of Duck fans. Head Coach Dana Altman was pleased with the win but was not happy with the key mistakes Oregon made on defense, seeing two players foul out, Paul White and Kenny Wooten. At any rate, the Ducks will be back in action Sunday at 10 a.m. PT in the Veterans Memorial Coliseum against the Oklahoma Sooners. Sunday's battle will be the finale of the Phil Knight Invitational.
