Oregon Football gave fans a first look at its 2019 team during Saturday's spring game. Mighty Oregon (starting offense and second team defenders) took down the Fighting Ducks (starting defense and second team offense) 20-13. Justin Herbert led his squad passing 17-32 for 219 yards and two TD. New wide receiver Juwan Johnson caught three balls for 32 yards and a TD. CJ Verdell caught two passes for 72 yards, and Jaylon Redd caught the second TD that ultimately closed the game. Tyler Shough was impressive for the Fighting Ducks, throwing 18-31 for 178 yards. Cyrus Habibi-Likio ran it 12 times for 45 yards and a TD. 4 star freshman Mycah Pittman corralled 7 passes for 48 yards. The last play of the game was a one-handed interception by highly touted cornerback recruit Mykael Wright, who also had 5 tackles. Steve Stephens led the second team defense with 7 total tackles. With the loss, Oregon drops to below .500 in Pac-12 play, certainly not the place the team wants to be at this point in the season.

Kolby Somers and Ryne Nelson would pick up the slack for him though, combining for 7.1 innings of three run ball; Nelson especially looked impressive, striking out eight batters over his 3.2 innings while allowing no earned runs of his own. After a 15-hour break, Oregon and Cal resumed the rained-out game early Saturday morning. Oregon was up 1-0 and picked up where they left off before the rain delay. The Ducks slugged two home runs and tallied six hits en route to a 4-0 win over the Bears in game two of the series.

Game three was played to a different tune as Cal plated five runs in the opening frame of the game. All five runs were unearned because Jasmine Sievers and Rachel Cid accumulated two errors to allow those runners to reach base or score. Zoe Conley and Kamalani Dung held Oregon scoreless through the first five innings, but the Duck-bats came alive in the sixth inning when they tallied two two-out runs to come within three runs. Shaye Bowden opened the seventh with a solo home run, but Conley retired the next two batters. Oregon Women's Lacrosse lost the last regular season home game and senior night 14-8 against #23 CU Boulder Friday night at Pape Field. Sophomore Lillian Stump lead the way for Oregon with 5 goals and 1 assists. Senior Shannon Williams factored in on 3 of Stump's goals and finished with 1 goal and 3 assists.

Colorado displayed why they are one of the best teams in the Pac-12 as Samantha Nemirov spearheaded the offense with 4 goals and 1 assist. She now sits at 41 goals and teammate Miranda Stinson added 2 goals to her Pac-12 leading 53 on the season.

The Ducks battled the Buffs hard in the first half which was capped off with a Stump last second goal to bring the score to 7-4 before half time. Stump would add 2 more goals and Jamie Level would add one as well to close the gap to 8-7.

After dropping the first of a three-game series, Oregon (22-15, 7-7 Pac-12) was looking to snag one back from the Stanford Cardinal (26-6, 12-2 Pac-12). Unfortunately for the Ducks, poor pitching lead to a disastrous game that ended in a 20-5 loss. Cole Stringer (5.90 ERA) took the mound for Oregon but looked cold early, as he gave up five runs to start the game. However, once Stringer escaped the first, he found his groove and put the next six batters down in order.

For the other side, Stanford’s Will Matthiessen (3.62 ERA) picked his batters for five innings, only allowing two hits and a single run to Gabe Matthews off a solo home run. Though Matthiessen had four walks, he made sure the Ducks were unable to find solid contact all game.

Stanford truly won the game in the fifth inning, where the lead was extended to nine. An easy out opportunity could have gotten the Ducks off the field with only two runs allowed, but an error allowed two more runners in. With…
