MBB | #14 Oregon wins civil war, snaps losing streak against Oregon State

Text story by Alex Roth

The 354th edition of the civil war goes the way of the Oregon Ducks as they pulled away from the Oregon State Beavers in the second half and secured a 69-54 win on Thursday night. The Ducks played well on the defensive side of the ball all night long, and were able to hold the Beavers to 54 points, which is the lowest point total the Ducks have allowed in PAC-12 play this season. Oregon also forced 15 Oregon state turnovers which lead to 15 Oregon points.

The Ducks and Beavers were locked in a close battle for much of the first half, as each team got out to a poor shooting start from the field. Ethan Williams played a major role for the Beavers in the first half, putting up 13 points to keep Oregon State in the game as the Beavers offense struggled in the first half. Oregon's first half offense was carried by Payton Pritchard and Anthony Mathis, who combined for 19 points and 5 three pointers to give the Ducks a 29-25 advantage at the…

Ducks Erase Early 2 Run Deficit, Win Second Game in a Row (3-2) Against Wolfpack

Written by: Sam Greenville

Oregon was able to grab their second victory of the season today at PK Park in the second game against the University of Nevada Reno Wolfpack. It looked like the Wolfpack were going to notch their first win of the season but following a two run double by Aaron Zavala in the 6th, the Ducks would take the 3-2 lead and ride it the rest of the way for their second consecutive victory. The Ducks took advantage of a routine pop fly error, followed by a walk to score the tying and winning runs. Zavala on his thought process at the plate said “It’s sort of a cliche mindset, but not worrying about the situation and just trying to do what you can for the team.” Nevada starting pitcher Jake Jackson would receive the loss in the stat column, however pitching 7 strong innings giving up three runs (one being earned). Wiley Tilley would be the lone member of the Wolfpack with an RBI, coming up with two on a double down the left field line to give Nevada Reno…
