Ducks Win Home-Opener in 9th (3-2) Against Nevada Reno, First Win of the Season

Written by: Sam Greenville and Scott Wardwell

It was a gorgeous Friday evening in Eugene as the Oregon Ducks faced off against the University of Nevada Reno Wolfpack in a thrilling comeback win in the ninth inning for the Ducks. Pitching drove the narrative for both teams for most of the game, but that narrative quickly changed when the Ducks scored four runs in the final two innings to tie and then win the game. AUDIO: Oregon Faces Final Road Trip of Regular Season

Oregon remains tied atop the Pac-12 standings, but a rough weekend visiting the Arizona schools could see them tumble all the way to sixth place. Oregon has just five regular season games left, and only two games left to try and improve on road woes. Oregon is the only team left standing in the Pac-12 with a perfect conference record at home (6-0) yet they have been falling short on the road with a 3-4 conference record. Head Coach Dana Altman points out that home teams have won 70% of games in the Pac-12 this season, but only a fraction of the Eugene fans will follow Oregon throughout the tournament, and the Ducks need to play more consistent away from home to make noise in the postseason.
