BSB | Ducks Surrender Six Unanswered, Drop Series Finale 6-4
By Aiden Hess
EUGENE - Oregon’s bid to complete a three game sweep over #7 ranked and conference rival Stanford Cardinal fell short on Sunday afternoon at PK Park. The Ducks were able to take the first two of the series winning 4-0 and 8-1 both behind complete game pitching performances from Jace Stoffal and Logan Mercado. The third time however was not the charm.
Leo Uelmen got the start on the bump for the Ducks looking to make immense on his five run, one inning outing against Oregon State one week ago. Uelmen looked to be in trouble early issuing three straight one out walks, but was able to fan back to back batters and put up a zero in the first. The game got off to a promising start for Oregon when third baseman and cleanup hitter Sabin Ceballos clubbed a no-doubt three run homer to left field in the first inning. The Ducks kept digging the long ball as Bryce Boettcher got a hold of one for his second round-tripper of the season, putting Oregon on top…

After taking the first game of the series 4-0 yesterday night Oregon looks to stay hot and grab game 2 against Stanford today at home in PK Park. The game however didn’t start all too well for either team's offense as they both started 0-0 through the first 2 innings. Logan Mercado was able to record 2 early strikeouts and Stanford was able to stay level thanks to some good fielding.
Things didn’t last long though, as in the 3rd inning Oregon’s offense was able to get things going. After gaining momentum off of 2 more strikeouts from Mercado and a stolen base from Nishida, the Ducks bats got hot as a single from Shade got Nishida to 3rd, then Cowley had a big RBI double scoring Nishida. Ceballos then grounded out to 1st but Shade was able to score, giving Oregon the 2-0 lead at the end of the 3rd.
The momentum didn’t slow down for Oregon as they then had 3 straight innings with an HR. In the 4th…

The Oregon Ducks (5-7) began their final home series weekend on Friday with a 12-11 come-from-behind victory against the Arizona State Sun Devils (4-9).
The Sun Devils began the game a step ahead of the Ducks. Despite Goalie Paige Crowther getting 6 saves in the first half, ASU seemed to fire off an overwhelming number of shots and they went into halftime with a 3-7 lead. The first quarter was a dominant performance from ASU as the Ducks struggled to keep up. But as the Ducks moved into the second quarter, Attacker Morgan McCarthy shifted gears and scored a hat-trick in the second quarter alone. At halftime, Head Coach Chelsea Hoffman made sure to keep the spirits of the team high.
“They had a lot of belief,” Hoffman said. “They actually had a lot of conversations in the locker room that was productive to the areas that we need to strengthen in the second half.”

Oregon native Jace Stoffal went the full nine innings, leading the Ducks to a massive 4-0 win over #7 Stanford on Friday. The Stanford Cardinal were chopped down by Oregon’s nearly perfect pitching. Jace Stoffal started off the game scorching hot. He had two K’s in the first inning. During the first three innings, it was a pitcher’s duel between Oregon's Jace Stoffal and Stanford’s lefty, Quinn Mathews. The game remained scoreless through three innings. Mathews started off hot, then cooled down, as he gave up three runs in the fourth inning. Despite Mathews pitching a fairly complete game, Stanford’s quiet offense caused them this loss. The Cardinal didn’t score a single run the entire game.
In the fourth inning, Oregon ended the scoring drought. Junior outfielder Colby Shade put the Ducks on the board with his solo blast that brushed the left fielder banner in the bottom of the fourth. Then, Oregon first baseman Jacob Walsh hit a two-run…

By: Ian Sutliff
Eugene, OR-- It has been a great season for both teams as the PAC-12 foes have faced gauntlets of a schedule in 2023. Arizona State has been a tough team at home, with a 14-5 record in Tempe and it’ll be another tough test for a squad who will be aiming to make a statement in a crowded conference. Oregon on the other hand has been consistent this entire season, never losing more than twice in a row and have gone a respectable 6-7 against ranked opponents. A series win for either team will be huge in gaining steam going into the end of the season and will be telling of what’s in store for the playoffs.
Oregon:The Ducks have two of the best players in the country in veterans Allee Bunker and Terra McGowan. Bunker is batting .415 with seven homers and 38 RBIs this season and has been on a tear of late. She’s 13-25 (.520) over her last eight games and that includes a pair of home runs, as well as 14 RBIs. McGowan is also one of the…

Despite an overall winning record, the Bushnell Beacons have recently become all too familiar with losses. Last week, the Beacons failed to execute a single win in their series against the University of British Columbia, losing two of the four games by a 10+ run deficit. At Hamlin Sports Complex this past Tuesday, the Beacons lost a close one to Western Oregon University 6-5. Jeff Fripp brought the game within one run after a three-run home run in the bottom of the 8th, but it wasn’t enough to pull out a win. This upcoming weekend, the Beacons host Oregon Tech on their home field with a chance to turn things around as the season’s end draws near.
The Beacons are walking into this game with a solid lineup, including two players ranked top 10 within the conference for ERA: Ethan Sachs and Adam Sabatino. Sachs has an ERA of 3.48, on top of collecting 43 strikeouts throughout the 9 games he has started. In one of his…
