Oregon Women's Basketball Defeats UTSA 77-63

The Oregon Women's Basketball team defeated the UTSA Roadrunners 77-63, improving to 3-0 on the season. The Ducks offense was led by standout freshman Sabrina Ionescu, who had 26 points on 5-7 shooting from three point range. She also grabbed 8 rebounds. Loryn Goodwin led the scoring for the Roadrunners with 18 points. The Ducks next game is Tuesday at home against Michigan State at 8 pm. With Oregon down 28-24 at Utah with 2:18 remaining, true freshman quarterback Justin Herbert led the Ducks' offense 75 yards down the field and into the endzone. The drive was capped off by a 17-yard touchdown pass from Herbert to Darren Carrington. The controversial play was reviewed and reversed in favor of the Ducks after initially being ruled incomplete. The win all but derails Utah's hopes at a berth in the Pac-12 Championship, and gives Oregon its fourth win of the year, second in conference play. Most of the Oregon production came from the bench, as freshmen Ruthy Hebard had a game high 23 points and 10 rebounds. Sierra Campisano played big in her 11 minutes, coming away with 12 points. Oregon continued to show off a big recruiting class, as freshmen Sabrina Ionescu added 14 points on 6-16 shooting. For the Road Runners, Aja Williams carried the point load for the night, she was able to put up 21 points on the evening. Oregon will look to continue to get big bench production this season, but will also need to get more out of the starters as standout Lexi Bando was 0-2 on the night.
