Oregon baseball continued its recent hot streak by beating Santa Clara 3-0 for the four game sweep and also their sixth win in a row. SB: Ducks dismantle Hofstra 12-1 to conclude Oregon Invitational

The Oregon Ducks finished their long weekend of softball without needing to go the full seven innings beating the Hofstra Pride 12-1 on the heels of an impressive pitching performance by freshman starter Maggie Balint. Mike White's squad outscored their opponents 54-4 run-ruling each team they faced with the exception of their first contest against the Idaho State Bengals. The Ducks improve to 24-0 on the young season becoming the last team in NCAA Division I to remain unbeaten. With the doubleheader against Portland State canceled (make-up games: TBA), the Ducks will have a five-day respite before they begin Pac-12 play against the California Golden Bears on March 17. SB: Oregon takes games 3 & 4 of the Oregon Invitational by run-rule.

After winning their first two games of the Oregon Invitational Friday night, the Oregon Ducks won both their games against Idaho State & Pacific Saturday afternoon. Both games went only 5 innings as Oregon's offense was potent again, putting up 9 runs against Idaho State, as well as 8 runs against Pacific. Megan Kleist got the nod in game 3 of the Invitational, as the Idaho State offense couldn't get anything going against the Sophomore. Kleist went 5 innings pitched, two hits allowed, no earned runs, and striking out 11. Those 11 strikeouts set a new career high for her in a game. Gwen Svekis would end the game on a 2-run homer, accounting for 2 of her 3 RBI's in the game. Miranda Elish got the nod in game 4, and she would also set a career high in strikeouts; going 5 innings, giving up only one hit, and striking out 9 batters with no earned runs. The ducks now are riding a five game winning streak after dominating Santa Clara 10-0 on Saturday afternoon. Starting pitcher Matt Mercer was phenomenal going 7 innings giving up zero runs and striking out 5. Santa Clara wasn't able to get anything going on offense mustering only 3 hits. The offensive star of the day was freshman Gabe Matthews going 4-4 with 3 RBIs. Not to mention he hit his first career college home run with a moon shot over the right field fence.
