Even in a 27-21 loss to Auburn in the season opener the Oregon defense came under a lot of attention, and for the right reasons. The Ducks new-look defense looked superb against Auburn in the first half, only giving up a pair of field goals. With Avalos now pulling the strings many players have and will continue to benefit. One of those players is defensive tackle Austin Faoliu. Faoliu's role has expanded and now has more freedom in the trenches than ever.
