BSB | Oregon Takes Series Finale 3-2 Against Beavers Amid Tension

After losing two competitive games to begin the Civil War, Oregon(25-24, 9-15 Pac-12) showed some grit and took home a close 3-2 victory to close out their series against Oregon State(33-15-1,19-5 Pac-12). The game was started by Brett Walker, but the real story on the mound was flamethrower Ryne Nelson, who pitched 6.1 innings in relief to grab his third win of the season, while striking out 12 and allowing only 2 runs. Nelson currently is tied for the Pac-12 lead in strikeouts with 98, albeit with most of his innings coming as a reliever. Another stud for the game was Spencer Steer, who continued his series-long dominance of the Beavers, going 2 for 2 with two walks, reaching base in all of his at bats and hitting a double for the third straight game. On the series, he brought in 5 of the team's 8 total runs, carrying the offense every time he stepped up to the plate.

There were a couple tense moments throughout the game, as Ryne Nelson was accused of having an illegal…

WSOC | Oregon Caps off an Impressive Pre-Season with a 1-1 Tie Against Oregon State

Oregon soccer wrapped up their spring preseason on Saturday against the rival Oregon State Beavers with a 1 to 1 tie. Though just a preseason game, it was apparent that to the players on the field it was still a Civil War. Both teams played a hard and physical game for 90 minutes, trying desperately to get ahead of one another.

Zoe Hasenauer got the Ducks up early with a shifty move in the box, and a shot that the aggressive Beaver goalie Emma Dean could only get a piece of. Though Oregon had their inter-state rivals on their heels for the entirety of the first half, Hasenauer’s shot would be the only one to beat Dean.

Although the Ducks came away with just a single goal despite a great first-half performance, Head Coach Kat Mertz recognizes that the incoming Freshman will continue to prove their worth throughout the season. It’s a young team with high expectations, and the Ducks look to bring their impressive spring performance to the regular season.

BSB | Steer Puts Ducks On His Back, But To No Avail

Game two of the Civil War went about as well as game one for Oregon(24-24, 8-15 Pac 12), with the Ducks losing by three once again in an 8-5 contest against Oregon State(33-14-1, 19-4 Pac 12), who now take the top spot in the conference. Early pitching struggles from Cullen Kafka and offensive woes from most of the lineup proved to be the deciding factors in this game. Kafka would not start off well, giving up three runs in the first inning, and would be pulled after 2.1 IP having given up 5 earned runs. The relievers would only allow one earned run the rest of the way, with lefty Nico Tellache putting up three consecutive 1-2-3 innings to finish for the Ducks. But even though the team put up 5 runs, it was the Novitske-Smith-Steer show today, as they would combine for 7 of the team's 8 hits and drive in 4 of the 5 runs. Spencer Steer has almost single handedly kept this team offense afloat so far this series, accounting for 4 of the team's 6 runs, and going 5 for 8 with 2 doubles…

SB| Oregon Allows Four Home-Runs As Arizona State Run-Rules The Ducks 12-4

After losing the first two games of the series to the Arizona State Sun Devils (32-18, 12-10 Pac-12) the Oregon Ducks (22-29, 5-17 Pac-12) looked to bounce back as the team would try to send their seniors off with a win.

The ducks got things rolling in the first inning with back-to-back doubles from Allee Bunker and Jasmine Sievers scoring the first run of the game. But Arizona State answered right back in the next inning with a solo home-run from Jade Gortarez tying the game at one.

From there on, the sun devil’s bats stayed hot with Kiara Kennedy and both of the Hackbarth sisters recording home-runs in the 3rd inning giving the sun devils a 7-2 lead which they would not give up. The sun devils would score another five runs to Oregon’s two runs in the remaining innings, which led to a run-rule decision after the bottom of the 6th giving the sun devils the win and the series sweep by a score of 12-4 .

BSB | Ducks Drop Civil War Opener In Pitching Duel

After a sweep at the hands of Arizona last weekend, Oregon(24-22, 8-14 Pac 12) came back to conference play for the biggest series of the season against rival Oregon State(31-14-1, 17-4 Pac 12). The Ducks managed to keep it respectable against the Beavers after the Wildcats put up huge numbers against them, losing by a score of 4-1. Starting pitcher Robert Ahlstrom was a little rough the first few innings, but settled down and managed to pitch 8.1 innings, giving up only two hits after the third inning and kept the Beavers offense in check for most of the night. This start was the longest of his career, coming in front of his hometown crowd for an added bonus. Spencer Steer seemed to be the Ducks only hope at victory tonight, as he did everything, making multiple highlight reel plays at the hot corner and going 3 for 4 at the plate and driving in the only run for Oregon.

Tomorrow, the Ducks will try to steal one from the Beavers, with first pitch scheduled for 2 pm at PK…
