After losing the first two games of the series to the Arizona State Sun Devils (32-18, 12-10 Pac-12) the Oregon Ducks (22-29, 5-17 Pac-12) looked to bounce back as the team would try to send their seniors off with a win.

The ducks got things rolling in the first inning with back-to-back doubles from Allee Bunker and Jasmine Sievers scoring the first run of the game. But Arizona State answered right back in the next inning with a solo home-run from Jade Gortarez tying the game at one.

From there on, the sun devil’s bats stayed hot with Kiara Kennedy and both of the Hackbarth sisters recording home-runs in the 3rd inning giving the sun devils a 7-2 lead which they would not give up. The sun devils would score another five runs to Oregon’s two runs in the remaining innings, which led to a run-rule decision after the bottom of the 6th giving the sun devils the win and the series sweep by a score of 12-4 .

The Ducks managed to keep it respectable against the Beavers after the Wildcats put up huge numbers against them, losing by a score of 4-1. Starting pitcher Robert Ahlstrom was a little rough the first few innings, but settled down and managed to pitch 8.1 innings, giving up only two hits after the third inning and kept the Beavers offense in check for most of the night. This start was the longest of his career, coming in front of his hometown crowd for an added bonus. Spencer Steer seemed to be the Ducks only hope at victory tonight, as he did everything, making multiple highlight reel plays at the hot corner and going 3 for 4 at the plate and driving in the only run for Oregon.

Tomorrow, the Ducks will try to steal one from the Beavers, with first pitch scheduled for 2 pm at PK…

Thursday nights first inning was plagued by walks where Dail couldn’t find her command, but Friday’s game was a different story. The softball just wouldn’t fall to any Oregon fielders glove as in the first inning alone three balls fell for bloop hit singles, contributing to the big five run inning for the Sun Devils.

Dail would settle in after that, but her offense just could not find the holes in the ASU defense, even though they made solid contact all night and were kept hitless until the fifth inning. But in the fifth inning Shaye Bowden got the Ducks on the board with a solo shot to left field, for their first run and hit of the game.

With both offenses putting the ball in play early and often, there were plenty of opportunities…

After a disastrous weekend against Pac-12 opponent Arizona Wildcats, the Oregon Ducks(24-22, Pac-12 8-13) got a bounce back win against an upstart Portland Pilots(23-22) team that had beat them earlier in the season as they now turn their attention to instate rival Oregon State. With the score being tied for most of the game at 1-1, Sam Novitske laced a clutch, 2 RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to give the Ducks the lead. Gabe Matthews would tack on an insurance run that would lead to the final score of 4-1.

Starting on the mound was righty Brett Walker, but he would only pitch three innings as coach Horton went with a pitcher-by-committee approach, with six Ducks taking the mound. This strategy proved effective as the team only allowed one run and kept the pitchers on low pitch counts to have them ready for the weekend series against the Beavers.
