FB STORY: Oregon Finds Revenge Against the Utes, Keeps Pac-12 Championship Hopes Alive

Written Story by Austin Ota

EUGENE, OR – No. 12 Oregon Football (9-2, 7-1 Pac-12) entered their Week 13 matchup against No. 10 Utah (8-3, 6-2 Pac-12) but were able to turn the tide after losing at home to the University of Washington the week prior. After seeing their playoff hopes slip through their fingers, the Ducks defense was key to shutting down Utah’s attack. Oregon was able to impress the home crowd and take this matchup, 20-17.

The story of the first half was the return of Heisman-hopeful Bo Nix. Prior to the game, the availability of Nix for Oregon was relatively unknown, but when No. 10 came out on the field under center for the Ducks, Autzen erupted. Due to a leg injury, the dual-threat Nix was relegated to only the ability of his arm, but he threw an efficient 25-37 with a touchdown and a late interception. At the onset of the second quarter, Nix found young receiver Donte Thornton, Jr. on a…

PREVIEW: Oregon Women’s Basketball Takes on Southern Utah in Last Game ahead of PK85 Invitational

By Dylan Farrell

The Stories

The No. 21 Oregon Ducks (3-0) will look to stay undefeated on the year on Nov. 21 against the Southern Utah Thunderbirds (2-2) in Oregon’s final home game before the PK85 Invitational in Portland. The Ducks enter the matchup in the midst of a three-game tear that’s seen them post a cumulative +123 point differential and win by at least 37 points in each contest. Conversely, Southern Utah has posted back-to-back losses against unranked teams, including a 91-38 blowout at Gonzaga. As Southern Utah looks to right the ship, Oregon will work to continue the smooth sailing that's brought it to five straight NCAA tournament appearances.

Players to Watch

After losing star forward Sedona Prince to injury before the season opener, questions loomed about Oregon’s ability to compensate for her absence on such short notice. True freshman and five-star recruit Grace VanSlooten has answered all…

PREVIEW: Oregon Football vs Utah

WHEN: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 7:30 PM PT

WHERE: AUTZEN STADIUM, EUGENE, OR

By: Griffin Bowes

THE 12TH RANKED OREGON DUCKS have found themselves at a major crossroads this week. On one hand, last week’s 37-34 loss to rival Washington all but eliminated them from the College Football Playoff discussion. The status of quarterback Bo Nix is to be determined, as he suffered an apparent ankle injury last week. On the other hand, winning the PAC-12 and making the Rose Bowl is still a very realistic goal for the Ducks. We will learn a lot about the resilience of the Oregon coaches and players in this week’s matchup against #10 Utah. With many of their preseason goals still in front of them, the Ducks could bounce back with a hard-fought win over a quality Ute team. Or, they could be discouraged after falling out of national contention, and suffer their second straight home loss.

VB Story: Oregon's win streak extends to 10 after a 5-set victory against UCLA

Written Story by Jakob Salao

Oregon Volleyball defeated the UCLA Bruins on Friday 3-2 at home in Matthew Knight Arena. This extends the Ducks' winning streak to 10 straight wins; a streak that started back in early October where Oregon first beat UCLA this season. This is also the first time Oregon has swept UCLA in the season since 2018. Although on paper this may sound like Oregon got the win easily, the real match was not won that easily.

The first set was a tumultuous back-and-forth set where neither team was able to jump out to a sizable lead. As soon as Oregon would find a lead, UCLA would go on a scoring run to get it right back. It wasn’t until Oregon scored their 19th point, and forced a UCLA timeout, that the team was able to secure their lead. As they lead 19-17, the crowd in MKA began to explode with chants and claps in support of the Ducks. The Ducks responded to this energy with a 9-1 scoring run in order to secure a victory in…

PREVIEW: Oregon Volleyball Rides 9-Game Win Streak into Home Stretch of Regular Season

By Charles Martindale Over a month ago, Oregon volleyball made the trip to Los Angeles for a set of matches against the Pac-12’s Southern California schools. The trip came at something of a low point in the season for Oregon, who had just lost back to back grueling matches to Washington State and Washington, only the second time in 2022 that they’d been defeated consecutively. The losing streak continued on October 14th, when the Ducks fell in four sets to USC, their third straight loss. Two days later when trailing UCLA, a set away from a fourth straight defeat, the team flipped the script, beating the Bruins in five sets to earn a happy flight home. Beating UCLA and ending the three match skid seemed important even at the time, with Oregon showing serious resilience on the road in order to split on the weekend. Still fighting the injury bug, Oregon used that momentum to kick off what has become the new defining stretch of their year. The Ducks have yet to lose since that USC… Read More
