PREVIEW: Oregon Baseball Gets a Surprise Weekend at PK for a Bout Against the Gauchos
by Saul Galvan
Oregon baseball had the ideal start to the season in its opening series. After starting last year with a 1-3 record, the Ducks were able to complete the opening series sweep over Xavier. Now the Ducks look to pick back where they left off, as the Gauchos of UC Santa Barbara come to PK Park for a three game series. The series was originally scheduled to be played in Santa Barbara, but after multiple reports of significant rainfall in Southern California, a decision was made to move the games to PK park and cut from four games to three.
Oregon:The series over Xavier was one for books and a good sign for the 2023 season. The Ducks’ offense put up twenty runs, while the pitching kept Xavier in check, only allowing eight. Catcher Josiah Cromwick and newly welcomed Japanese infielder, Rikku Nishida, lead the offense combining for eleven RBI’s. Cromwick leads the team in homeruns after hitting three over the weekend,…

By: Ian Sutliff
Eugene, OR-- The Ducks are coming off a great Campbell/Cartier classic where they took all five games in three days. Now Oregon will face some of its biggest tests this weekend where it will play three ranked opponents and Cal State Fullerton who was receiving votes in the last USA poll. On Friday, Oregon kicks off the Mary Nutter classic with Fullerton, which will be immediately followed by Northwestern on the back end of the doubleheader.
Oregon Offense:
Oregon is led by super seniors Allee Bunker and Terra McGowan. Bunker hit two home runs last weekend at the Campbell/Cartier classic while McGowan went 10-18 after starting the season off just 1-13. Two players that have been overlooked though are Alyssa Daniell and Tehya Bird. Daniell leads the team with a .400 batting average which has been a huge help out of the cleanup spot and the team missing Hannna Delgado last weekend. Bird leads the team in…

PREVIEW: After a Disappointing Road Trip, Oregon Women’s Basketball Heads Home to Face the #14 Arizona Wildcats
By Maddie Lang
EUGENE, OR- The Oregon Ducks’ Women's Basketball team will host the #14 Arizona Wildcats this Thursday night. The Ducks are sitting at 14-13 overall, however, almost all of their wins came in the first half of their season. Although they’ve lost seven straight games, these matchups were all decided by 10 points or less. This means that a victory over the Wildcats is not out of the picture. If Oregon wants to take down Arizona and stop their winning drought, they will need to put up a strong performance.
OREGON’S OFFENSE
The last time the Ducks faced off against the Wildcats, they had one of their top scoring performances. They shot 52.7 percent, scoring 71 overall. Leading the team was Grace VanSlooten who had a total of 18 points all while missing parts of the final two quarters. Oregon’s shooting percentage as of late has stayed within the mid 30% range. If the Ducks want to make a victory happen, they will…

BSB: Oregon completes four-game sweep of Xavier to open the season
By: Ian Sutliff
Eugene, OR-- The Ducks went into Sunday 3-0 after a Saturday where it beat Xavier twice and totaled fourteen runs. Sunday’s series finale was a different story though as Nick Boyle cruised through the first four frames as he kept Oregon off the board while striking out three and allowing just one hit. Going into the fifth inning, freshman Jakson Pace had retired 14 of the last 16 batters he’d faced after giving up a one out double to Andrew Walker in the first. After allowing a walk to Teddy Deters, Carter Hendrickson hit a line drive double down the left field which was misplayed for a second by Tanner Smith, allowing Deters to score from first.
The Musketeers would hold the 1-0 lead into the seventh inning where the Ducks’ only hit to that point was an infield single from Gavin Grant in the third inning. After holding Xavier to no runs in the top of the seventh after they loaded the bases, Josiah Cromwick took the first pitch he saw…
