MBB Preview: Ducks' Matchup with #7 UCLA Continues Must-Win Home Stretch

by Ryan Oppenheimer

Since the Oregon Ducks (15-10, 9-5 Pac-12) got back to full health, they have looked like a different team. A triumphant upset over Arizona at the beginning of January opened the door for a potential tournament bid, and they have kept hope alive ever since. They have played their way into the bubble watch, but to stay there, they must take care of business against a tough UCLA team (20-4, 11-2 Pac-12).

Oregon is coming off an impressive 78-60 home win Thursday vs USC, in which they shot over 50% from the field — a feat that they are undefeated when achieving. The duo of guard Will Richardson and center N'Faly Dante has been the main engine for the Ducks, as Richardson ranks second in conference with 5.5 assists per game and Dante ranks fourth in FG% with 62.9%. The return of transfer guard Jermaine Couisnard has also been crucial, as his 12.4 points per game have added some balance to the offense.

UCLA has lost much of its 2021…

WLAX STORY | Oregon is Set to Take on Xavier in the First Game of the Lacrosse Season

Written By Jakob Salao

Eugene, Ore. — The Oregon Ducks Women’s Lacrosse team is set to take on their first opponent of the season, Xavier, on Saturday at 1 pm. The Ducks will be at home in Pape field, with a squad of players that many fans will recognize, along with some new additions to the team.

For the Xavier Musketeers, this is the first official women’s lacrosse game in program history and the first for their head coach Meg Decker.

Head Coach Chelsea Hoffman is in her 5th season with the Ducks, looking to improve her 12-43 career record at Oregon. To help her out, the Ducks recently promoted Associate Head Coach Caitlin Prince. Prince came on to the team last year and bolstered the attacking force for the Ducks, featuring 7 double-digit goal scorers for the first time since 2017 and two players (Shonly Wallace and Hanna Hilcoff) who scored 40+ goals for the first time since 2018.

MBB Story | Oregon Continues their Bid for the NCAA Tournament with a Dominant Win over USC

Written Story by Jakob Salao

Eugene, Ore. -- The Oregon Ducks Men’s Basketball team (15-10) beat the USC Trojans (17-7) at home on Thursday 78-60. This was the first and only matchup between both teams this season and was home to one of the most electrifying crowds in Oregon sports this year.

Towards the end of this season, the Ducks have been trying to make a case for a spot in the NCAA tournament and this impressive win is only improving their resume. Last season, the Ducks split the series against the Trojans 1-1, losing at home to a game-winning dagger from Drew Peterson. It left a sour taste in the Ducks’ mouths; players and fans alike. Although it wasn’t the sole reason Oregon missed the tournament, it certainly didn’t help.

During this year’s matchup, it felt like every Duck in Matthew Knight Arena was giving it their all to win the game, including the Oregon student section. It’s no secret that MKA is a tough place…

Oregon Women’s Basketball Faces Off Against the #7 Utah Utes

Written by Maddie Lang

The Oregon Ducks Women’s Basketball team takes on the University of Utah Utes this Sunday afternoon. The Ducks are coming back from a loss Friday night against the University of Colorado Buffaloes. Oregon is currently sitting at number eight in the PAC-12 while the Utes are number two in the conference and number seven in the nation. This will be the first and only regular season matchup for these two teams.

Oregon’s Offense

Oregon has lost five of its last seven games. Their most recent loss against the Buffalo was their lowest scoring game all season with just 53 points. The Ducks were unfortunate enough to go the whole game without a three-point basket. Oregon is going up against one of the top teams in the nation, and a performance like this won’t pull off the win. They will need players like Endiya Rogers and Te-Hina Paopao to step up and put up some big numbers in order to upset…
