Oregon got out to a hot start but had to battle against #23 Washington State on Sunday, as they took the first three sets before winning in five after a Cougar comeback. Sophomore Lindsey Vander Weide racked up 20 kills to lead an Oregon side that hit .278 on the match. The win sets Oregon in a three-way tie with UCLA and Stanford atop the Pac-12 at 10-4, with Washington a half-game back at 9-4. The Ducks play again Wednesday against the visiting Utah Utes. After giving up 17 points to the Trojans in the first quarter and trailing 17-6, the Ducks only gave up one touchdown in the second quarter, but struggled to move the ball down the field and were shut out in the quarter for the first time all season. Freshman quarterback Justin Herbert faced USC's blitz almost every play and went 18-33 with 162 yards and a touchdown, but the real struggles came on the ground for the Ducks.
