Gildon also had 12 rebounds, which also led the team. Sabrina Ionescu was four assists short of breaking the Pac12 record for career triple-doubles, but still scored 12 points. MBB: Ducks fall to Oklahoma Sooners in Phil Knight Invitational finale, 90-80.
Oregon started off strong, fell behind and eventually lost to the Oklahoma Sooners in the 5th place Victory bracket game of the Phil Knight Invitational Sunday. The Ducks finish the tournament with one win and two losses. The Ducks retained just three players from last year's roster and Head Coach Dana Altman's objective to find his team's identity may have to be put on hold. Altman admitted post-game that Oregon has a lot of work to do and that he expected his team to play far better than they have up to this point. The Ducks gradually fell apart while turning over possession seventeen times which allowed the Sooners to score 20 points from those turnovers. Defensively, Oregon allowed Oklahoma scoring machine, Trae Young, to score 43 points and shoot 17 of 18 from the free throw line. Altman and the Ducks will look to improve before getting back into action Dec. 1 against the Boise State Broncos at 6:30 PT in Matthew Knight Arena.
