Rubber Match Between #1 Oregon and #3 ASU Ends In Tie

Sunday afternoon at Howe Field, the rubber match between the number 1 Oregon Ducks and the number 3 Arizona Sun Devils ended in a tie. Various rain delays throughout the game caused the Sun Devils to run out of time due to their travel arrangements. Both teams were playing competitive softball and playing good defense behind great pitching from Hawkins and Escobedo. ASU struck first in the top of the 5th with a two run home run from Nikki Girard. Oregon countered with a 2 run single from Jaine Takeda in the bottom of the 5th. Oregon had one last shot to win the game in the bottom of the six but could not come up with a a run.
