VB | Sloppy Oregon Volleyball Avenges Arizona State Loss in Sweep

No. 16 Oregon Volleyball fought their way to a sweep against Arizona State in Tempe on Friday, Oct 26, avenging their sweep at the Sun Devils' hands late in September. While the Ducks struggled to get senior Lindsey Vander Weide and junior Willow Johnson into a rhythm, junior middle blocker Ronika Stone ignited UO with 15 kills on a .500 hitting percentage. In the back row, freshman libero Brooke Nuneviller put up 18 digs to assist a blocking unit that tallied 9 roofs. Oregon held Arizona State to a .073 hitting percentage on the night. Since the beginning of the 2016 season, Oregon football is just 6-7 in games following losses. In 2018, No. 19 Oregon has already showed once its ability to respond to a particularly heartbreaking loss after defeating then No. 24 Cal on the road after its overtime collapse to Stanford the week prior. But now as the Ducks (5-2, 2-2 in Pac-12) have seen their brief time as the conference's headliner come to end thanks to the 34-20 loss dealt by No. 14 Washington State last week, the team again must put a difficult loss behind them. Head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff have relied on the veteran voices in the locker room along with their own diligence in the film room to build this newfound resolve, which they will badly need heading to Arizona with staying afloat in the Pac-12 on the line. WSOC | Oregon Loses 2-1 Heartbreaker to Arizona State

Oregon Soccer fell to the Arizona State Sun Devils 2-1 in overtime after a last second goal by Marleen Schimmer. The Ducks came into this one hoping to snap their seven game losing streak. The match showed promise for Oregon, as Emma Eddy found the back of the net on a cross in the third minute. Oregon went on to dominate that half with lots of chances despite just the 1-0 lead. The Ducks had a 7-0 advantage on corner kicks in that half. Arizona State came back tough in a very back-and-forth second half. After hitting the post in the 56th minute, Marleen Schimmer scored the opening goal for the Sun Devils to tie the game 1-1. This came right after Bayley Bruner had a wide open chance that got blocked by a Sun Devil defender and ruined the chance to go up 2-0.
