Oregon Completes the Weekend Sweep After Thrashing Arizona 73-47

The Oregon Ducks toppled the Arizona Wildcats 73-47 in front of a packed Matthew Knight Arena on Senior Night. The Ducks completed the sweep over the Arizona schools improving to 17-12 and 8-8 in conference, while relegating the Wildcats to 17-13 and 8-9 in conference.

The Ducks were poor coming out the gate on both ends, not converting until the 16th minute of the contest. In that time they allowed the Wildcats to convert three open threes. After the poor start, the Ducks dominated the rest of the period, going on a 16-1 run from the 12th to 6th minute. Arizona leads the conference in fewest turnovers at 11.3 a game. Nevertheless, Oregon was able to attack their strength as they forced 11 Wildcat turnovers in the first 20 minutes. To end the half, Arizona went on a 9-0 run of their own as they made it 31-31 at half. Louis King was the Ducks leading contributor in points with 10 while Dylan Smith led the way for the Wildcats with 14, going 3-4 from behind the line.

The second half turned out to be much of the same for Oregon as they went on multiple impressive runs. This time separate 12-0. The first a 5-minute span early in the half and another 12-0 run in the closing minutes of the game. Oregon was by no means a juggernaut offensively on the night, yet they took advantage of sloppy Wildcat play converting 15 points on 15 uncharacteristic Arizona turnovers. The Ducks conceded just 16 points in the second half and 47 total, a season-best. Francis Okoro, typically a role player, has come under high praise from Dana Altman recently and he paid his coach back with great post-play in a 10 point 7 rebound night where he played 21 minutes. Pritchard, King, and Richardson joined Okoro in the double-digit club as they put up 14, 12 and 12 respectively.
