Back and forth action was on display at PK Park Sunday afternoon as the Oregon Ducks finished the three game sweep of LMU with a 7-6 win. Ryne Nelson started the game for the Ducks and provided strong play as he finished with 6.0 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 3 BB and 8 strikeouts.
Gabe Matthews got his second home run of the season in the first inning with a 2 run bomb to right center. This sparked a run where Oregon lead 5-2 in the fourth inning.
LMU would close the gap and take the lead 6-5 in the 7th inning. Oregon would respond with Spencer Steer’s game tying RBI single. Then Jonny DeLuca scored off a balk which gave Oregon the the go ahead run at 7-6.
Keaton Chase was the winning pitcher with his play in the 7th inning and Nico Tellache recorded the save. Tellache only have up 1 hit in the final two innings and notched 2 strikeouts as well.
Oregon travels up north to take on the University of Portland for a one game series on March 5th at 5:00pm.
