SB: Ducks Hit Three Home Runs to Take Game 1 From Arizona

The long ball proved to be the difference as the #5 Oregon Ducks defeated the #9 Arizona Wildcats 5-1 in game one of their three game series. The Ducks had recorded only one hit through five innings and that one hit was a solo shot to right-center field off the bat of Gwen Svekis in the bottom of the second inning. In the top of the sixth inning, the Wildcats tied the score at 1-1 on a chopper to DJ Sanders at shortstop who could not get the ball to home in time to record the out. The Ducks were to quick respond in the bottom half of the inning as Gwen Svekis hit a three blast for her second home run of the night and her 11th of the season. Shannon Rhodes followed it up with a solo shot of her own in the following at-bat. The Ducks improve to 30-6 on the season and 5-3 in Pac 12 play. They will look to win the series tomorrow as Miranda Elish takes the circle at noon tomorrow in game two of their three game series.
