STORY: Oregon Volleyball Swept at Home by Cal

Oregon Volleyball lost in three sets (25-14, 25-18, 25-21) at home to #19 Cal. The Golden Bears set the intensity early with an 11-1 run in the middle of the first set to propel them to a dominant set one victory. In set two, the Bears strung off 5 straight points to go up 11-6 and never looked back, going up 2-0. The last set was more competitive but Cal kept its position in the drivers seat throughout, finishing the Ducks in three sets. Oregon was held to a .135 hitting percentage for the match. Willow Johnson was the only attacker with double-digit kills (10 kills, .400, 12 digs). Brooke Nuneviller was limited to 7 kills and .190, but led the way defensively with 13 digs. Ronika Stone had just 5 kills on .118 hitting. Taylor Williams (6 kills, .000) and Karson Bacon (7 kills, .286) each contributed offensively but overall, Oregon couldn’t work through its 20 team attack errors. Defensively, the Ducks only had 3 blocks, while Cal had 8. Cal’s staggering defense was led by Mima Mirkovic (8 kills, 3 blocks) and Preslie Anderson (4 kills, 2 aces, 4 blocks). Bailee Huizenga led the way offensively with 13 kills on .440. Oregon will look to rebound on Friday, 10/11 as they take on Washington State in Pullman at 6:00 pm
