BSB | Oregon Continues To Allow Big Innings In Blowout Loss

Oregon(10-7, 0-2 PAC-12) came into today’s game looking to bounce back from yesterday’s 9-3 loss, but instead fell victim to big innings once again, going down to Washington again by a score of 19-3. Sophomore righty Robert Ahlstrom made his second career start, going four innings and allowing six earned runs, while striking out five and walking three. He got a lot of fly balls, inducing 6 flyouts, but otherwise seemed to struggle with his command high in the zone.

The bullpen seemed to struggle keeping runs off the board also, allowing 11 earned runs over the final five innings. Oregon pitching in general seemed to struggle with avoiding huge innings, allowing five runs in the third, four runs in the eighth, and six runs in the ninth.

The Oregon offense remained dormant for the second straight game, only totaling seven hits, with nothing longer than a single. Two bright spots, however, were leadoff hitter Sam Novitske and leftfielder Taylor Adams. Novitske went 3-4 with a run scored, while Adams went 2-3 in his first start since March 1.
