STORY: An Unlikely Star Against Arizona State, Gus Cumberlander Finds a Role with Oregon Football

Entering last Saturday’s matchup with Arizona State, Gus Cumberlander had recorded just 10 career tackles his first 22 career games along Oregon’s defensive line. Four quarters of football later and an injury to senior Jalen Jelks that sprung the redshirt junior into the rotation and he had added three more tackles, including two momentous sacks and a fumble recovery that sealed the narrow 31-29 victory after La’Mar Winston Jr. came off the edge and stripped the ball from Manny Wilkins. Having now played in 10 of the Ducks’ 11 contests in 2018, Cumberlander is starting to find his role and his confidence along the defensive front.
