Alyssa Daniell and Morgan Scott’s perseverance and heroics helped lead the Ducks to a 9-2 win against the Northern Colorado Bears on Sunday. Oregon utilized three pitchers throughout the game to help them get the win, including Stevie Hansen, Reagan Breedlove and Morgan Scott. Alyssa Daniel discussed the momentum that her teammates Raegan Breedlove and Morgan Scott generated on Sunday. “They come in in tough situations and they get it done. It makes us feel good as a defense when our pitchers are able to do that,” said Daniell. “It gave us momentum not only on defense but going into the offense because our pitchers held it down for us on defense so let’s go support them and score some runs.” Daniell had a tremendous outing against Northern Colorado. She finished with five total RBI’s and a home run, going one for two. Her home run came in the bottom of the fifth, which was arguably the most clutch hit of the day for Oregon. The Ducks were falling apart and were in a jam in the third inning until Daniell’s three run homer broke the game open.

In the post game presser, Daniell mentioned what the home run means to her. “It means a lot. Anything I can do to help out the team means a lot because we’re all working hard and we all deserve this,” said Daniell. “It also means a lot for it to be my last regular season game at home. To do it in front of the people that love me the most, it feels good.”

Oregon’s Stevie Hansen got the nod Sunday morning against the Bears. Hansen has struggled this season, yet she has remained confident. She’s integrating her way back into Oregon’s pitching rotation. Hansen recorded her first appearance in over two weeks versus Northern Colorado on Sunday. She had a solid outing, allowing just one hit and striking out three through three and two thirds innings. The one hit that Hansen allowed in Sunday’s outing was a solo-homer in the top of the fourth inning. The blast came from one of Northern Colorado’s strongest bats, Amailee Morales. Despite the fact that the Bears lost, Morales played a solid game and the Bears were in the game for the first four innings.

Raegan Breedlove came into the game in the third inning to replace Hansen. Breedlove’s outing was not tenured, as she only lasted one inning. In one inning of work, Breedlove allowed three hits and one run. Oregon’s head coach, Melyssa Lombardi, made the decision to pull Breedlove and bring in Morgan Scott in the fifth inning. Scott took care of business, and got the save. Scott allowed just one hit, no runs and walked one in her two and one thirds innings of work. Oregon was in a jam. The Bears had multiple runners on bases and Scott helped the Ducks escape the jam. Although Morgan Scott likely didn’t expect to appear in the game against a non-conference opponent in Northern Colorado, Scott had a phenomenal outing which helped propel the Ducks to a victory.

Oregon will hit the road soon. Their next game will be on Friday May 3rd, against the Stanford Cardinal. This upcoming three-game series will be the last series of their regular season.
