OREGON WBB PREVIEW: Ducks Host Beavers in Last Home Rivalry Game in the Pac 12

by Mario Ponce

EUGENE, Ore – The Oregon Ducks women’s basketball team (11-11) will host the No. 18 Oregon State Beavers (17-3) in their last Pac 12 regular season meeting, as the Ducks move to the Big 10 next year. In their previous matchup on December 31 of last year, the Beavers won 62-41. The last rivalry game in the conference is sure to be exciting and emotional.

Oregon Ducks:

The Ducks have had a difficult season, and are second to last in the Pac 12, with a conference record of 2-7. This season has been a rebuilding one for the program and they have one of the youngest rosters in the NCAA. The Ducks are playing in one of the deepest conferences in women’s basketball, and this game will be the fourth of their last five against a ranked opponent. They currently have a four game loosing streak, their last win coming against the Arizona Wildcats at home on January 14 by a score of 70-68.

Oregon State Beavers:

The Beavers have had a successful season and are third in the Pac 12, with a conference record of 6-3. The Beavers are one of six ranked teams and they’ve played really well, being undefeated at home with a record of 14-0 in the Gill Coliseum. They have a two game win streak, as they beat the Utah Utes 91-66 in Corvallis on January 28.

Prediction:

This will be a difficult game for Oregon. The Beavers are playing some of the best basketball they have all season and the Ducks have lost their last four games against matched opponents by double digits. The Ducks can play competitive in this conference, but in their last few games other teams have kept their offensive efficiency low. I predict the Beavers will win 70-59.
