EUGENE, Ore. – Bushnell Men’s Basketball hosted long-time rival Corban University in their first conference game of the season Tuesday night in Morse Center. Corban opened the game with an early 10-0 run. It wasn’t until the 17 minute mark that the Beacon’s scored their first field goal, a three-pointer from Stevie Schlabach. The Warriors tried to maintain their momentum but a fastbreak layup against three defenders from Schlabach gave the Beacons the power to finish the half on a 18-4 run. Unfortunately for the Beacons, they were unable to maintain their momentum in the second half and fell to the Warriors 84-66.

Leading the contest in scoring for the night was Bushnell’s Schlabach. He had a total of 22 points and a shooting percentage of 66%. Schlabach was key in creating momentum for the Beacons. His most notable play was a fastbreak layup in the first half where he sliced through three defenders. Schlabach has been one of Bushnell’s go-to players when they need a bucket. Head Coach Eddie Alexander said he was satisfied with Schlabach’s performance as he is a consistent player for the Beacons. 

Coach Alexander expressed that he felt his team did very little things well in the contest. They executed a few offensive things well but struggled defensively which lead to an offensive struggle. Coach Alexander said he wants to see several players step up and put up strong double figure performances. A few players he noted that he wants to see these performances from are Alexis Angeles and Spencer Hoffman. Alexander feels that once his starting five players are consistent and putting up numbers, his team will find success.

The Beacons will take a week long break over the holiday and will return back to Morse Center on December 2nd at 7:30PM PST to take on the Multnomah University Lions.
