BSB | Ducks Offense Explodes To Split Series

Audio story:

In the final matchup of a midweek 2-game series versus the UC San Diego Tritons(22-25, 11-10 Big West), the Oregon Ducks baseball team(29-20, 13-11 Pac-12) came out strong after a lackluster performance on Tuesday, putting up 5 runs in each of the 2nd and 3rd innings to win by a score of 15-6. Josh Kasevich set the tone early with a laser of a home run to left, and Sam Novitske followed it up two batters later with a 2-run shot, also to left.

Starting on the mound for the Ducks was Dylan Sabia, although he would only throw 2 innings to the tune of 1 earned run, 2 K’s, and no walks. The game turned into a bullpen day for the Ducks, relying on a collection of 5 pitchers to get through 9 innings. A couple of pitchers saw their first action in a little bit, with Kolby Somers taking the mound for the first time in 10 days, and Jacob Hughes seeing his first stint since March 29th.

Defensively, Colby Shade got the game off to an exciting start, robbing a home run on the second batter of the game, but losing his hat over the wall in the process. That would happen a few times throughout the game to him, so maybe Shade should make another visit to the hat shop.

Next up for the Ducks is the start of a 3-game series in Phoenix against the Arizona State Sundevils on Friday.
