By Knight Jarecki

Jane Sanders Stadium was filled with fans for the first time this season as Duck fans witnessed the #3 Oregon Ducks upset the #2 UCLA Bruins 3-0 Friday night. With the win on Friday, Oregon hands UCLA their second loss of the season, both of which have come at the hands of the Ducks.

The game was a pitching dual as both teams threw their aces in Brooke Yanez for the Ducks and Megan Faraimo for the Bruins. The two pitchers entered the game with less than a 1.50 ERA and 10 wins each.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 4th inning when Allee Bunker blasted a 2 run home run to left breaking the deadlock at 2-0. The Ducks offense stayed hot in the next inning as Haley Cruse ripped a double to right center field driving in Deijah Pangilinan to extend the Ducks lead to 3-0.

The score remained unchanged for the rest of the game as Brooke Yanez shut out the Bruins for the rest of the way.

Brooke Yanez finished with 8 strikeouts in 7 innings pitched while only allowing 2 hits. Allee Bunker was the star offensively as she finished 3-3 with the home run and 2RBIs.

Oregon now moves to 26-2 on the year. The Ducks will have 3 more battles with the Bruins as they host UCLA for a double header Saturday before wrapping up the series on Sunday.
