Story by: Dylan Reubenking

The 13th-ranked Oregon women’s basketball team overcame an early deficit and ice-cold offensive first half to defeat the Washington State Cougars 58-50 Friday at Matthew Knight Arena.

The Ducks scored just 2 points in the first eight minutes, but the offense slowly brought them back in the game in the third quarter. After trailing 31-23 in the third, they outscored the Cougars 35-19 in the final 17 minutes and 25 seconds. However, the overall offensive struggles continue as the Ducks shot 39% from the field and just 2-14 from beyond the arc.

Sedona Prince started for the first time since Dec. 4 and led the Ducks in scoring with 14 points on 7-12 from the field. Taylor Mikesell added 11 points in her first game coming off of the bench this season. Nyara Sabally injured her ankle in the second half, but she returned with four minutes left in the 4th quarter while slightly limping.

Charlisse Leger-Walker had a strong night for the Cougars, scoring 24 points with 10 of those coming in the 4th quarter. She has scored 44 points in two games against the Ducks this season.

The Ducks improve to 10-3 on the season and 8-3 in the Pac-12. Next up, they will host the Washington Huskies on Sunday at 2 p.m.
