SB | Oregon two hit in 10-1 Loss to Arizona State

For the second day in a row Jordan Dail gave up multiple runs in the first inning and Arizona state’s pitchers carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning, as the Ducks lost to the Sun Devils 8-1 Friday night.

Thursday nights first inning was plagued by walks where Dail couldn’t find her command, but Friday’s game was a different story. The softball just wouldn’t fall to any Oregon fielders glove as in the first inning alone three balls fell for bloop hit singles, contributing to the big five run inning for the Sun Devils.

Dail would settle in after that, but her offense just could not find the holes in the ASU defense, even though they made solid contact all night and were kept hitless until the fifth inning. But in the fifth inning Shaye Bowden got the Ducks on the board with a solo shot to left field, for their first run and hit of the game.

With both offenses putting the ball in play early and often, there were plenty of opportunities to make Sportscenter top ten web gems in the field.

ASU shortstop Jade Gortarez made a leaping play at shortstop multiple times, including a diving stop in the fourth. It wasn’t just Gortarez who made a highlight reel catch in the field, Haley Cruse joined in on the action and did this in the top of the fifth.

Oregon will hope to aviod the sweep in the final game of the series and their season tomorrow at 12 p.m.
