No. 2 Oregon women’s basketball had its NCAA-best 17-game win streak snapped Monday night, falling 67-62 in the second-leg of the 2019 Civil War series at No. 12 Oregon State.

Just a few nights removed from its woeful perimeter performance in Eugene where the Beavers went just 6-21 from three, Oregon State built an early 20-15 first quarter lead after hitting four of its first six from beyond the arc. Though the shooting cooled down in the second, the Beavers maintained its lead into the break, 33-27. Oregon generated seven turnovers and got up more shots in the opening half, but struggled with just 33% shooting from the field compared to the blistering 50% from Oregon State. Despite keeping its percentage above 50% throughout the third quarter, Oregon began its slow climb back in the game without star forward Ruthy Hebard, who exited the game in the second quarter with a knee injury. The Ducks managed to tie the game at 45-45 with 1:50 to go in the period, before Oregon State edged out the advantage 50-48 heading into the final quarter. With the first four points of the quarter, the Ducks finally grabbed the lead back for the first time since the opening period. But Oregon didn’t have an answer for Destiny Slocum, who finished with 20 points hit the go-ahead basket and followed it with a three in the final minutes. Oregon State iced the game at the free throw line, as the Ducks ran out of possession in the 67-62 loss that snapped Oregon’s NCAA-best 17-game winning streak.
