SB: Oregon Clinches Share of Pac-12 Title in 8-3 Victory Over Cal

Powered by two home runs from two seniors, no. 2 Oregon Softball clinched at least a share of the Pac-12 title on Friday afternoon with a come-from-behind 8-3 win over Cal. The Bears struck first, tacking on a single run against Megan Kleist in the fourth after she posted nine straight outs to start the game. Oregon continued a power-packed weekend in the next frame, though, as left fielder Alexis Mack singled in right fielder Haley Cruse before senior catcher Gwen Svekis hammered a three-run shot to left center. Cal responded by clawing two runs across in the bottom half of the fifth, in part due to poor defending by the Ducks. With Oregon just leading by a run, the team bounced back in the sixth, led by a towering DJ Sanders three-run homer to left. Kleist closed out the game to clinch the series win, and to set up the Ducks for the outright Pac-12 crown. At 46-7 overall and 20-3 in conference, Oregon needs just a win tomorrow or a loss out of UCLA in their next two games against Arizona State to reach that landmark. Either way, the Ducks close out the regular season on Saturday at 12 PM.
