SB: Oregon Sweeps Mid-Week Doubleheader With Portland State, Miranda Elish Perfect Game

The Ducks had a mid-week doubleheader clash with Portland State on Tuesday evening. Game 1 was highlighted by a solid 4th inning for the Ducks, where they scored 4 of their 8 runs, to win with a score of 8-2. Game 2 was a totally different story as it ended up being a pitching duel between Portland State pitcher Emma Detamore and Oregon pitcher Miranda Elish. Miranda Elish had allowed no runs through five innings, and Vikings pitcher Emma Detamore was trying to do the same thing, but Lauren Burke singled and reached on a fielding error to advance to second base and two batters later, Alexis Mack hit an RBI single through the middle to score Burke, ending the games scoring drought. To secure the win and put an exclamation point on the game, with Miranda Elish at first base, April Utecht blasted a two run homer to deep center field on the first pitch of the at-bat in the bottom of the 6th inning with 2 outs to give the Ducks a 3-0 lead. Miranda Elish capped it off with a strikeout, which was her 16th of the game and a new career high. This was the third perfect game in program history, as the other two were by Jessica Moore and Cheridan Hawkins. This was also the 30th no hitter in program history. The Ducks play next on Friday, April 6 at 5 pm, as they host the first of a three-game series versus the Arizona Wildcats.
