WLAX | Colorado Advances to Pac-12 Championship with 16-9 Win over Stanford

The Pac-12 Championship will feature USC and Colorado after the Buffs beat Stanford 16-9 Friday night.The tournament kicked off in Eugene Thursday as Oregon failed to reach the semi-finals as they lost 17-6 to Stanford.

Oregon's season came to an end with a 17-6 loss to Stanford as goaltender Rachel Hall broke her own school record for single game saves with 21. Lillian Stump spearheaded the offense with 3 goals.

The Ducks finish their season with 3-15 record and Senior Shannon Williams finishes her career as the all time leader in points and goals. Williams lead the team once again with 36 goals and 63 points.

With Oregon’s season done, the Pac-12 Tournament carried on as Stanford and Colorado battled for a shot at the championship on Sunday. Stanford got off to an early 3-1 lead, but the half was back and forth play with the Buffs gaining a 10-7 lead heading into half time.

Stanford could not handle Colorado's dynamic duo of Miranda Stinson and Sadie Grozier as they dominated the score sheet. Stinson finished with 4 goals and 2 assist and Grozier rattled off 5 goals to lead both teams.

This is the second straight year the Buffalos will be in the Pac-12 championship. Colorado looks for redemption as they were defeated by Stanford 15-6 in 2018.

The battle for the Pac-12 will conclude Sunday 1:00pm at Pape Field as Colorado faces off against USC. Game will be broadcasting on Pac-12 Networks.
