WBB | Ducks Roll Over the Saints In the First Game Since Dec. 18

Written Story by Jakob Salao

EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon Women’s Basketball Team dominated Carroll College with an impressive win of 88-57.

Oregon scheduled a game against Carroll since their last three games were postponed/cancelled due to Covid-related reasons. Oregon was scheduled to play Northwestern, Utah and Colorado. The last game they played was Dec. 18, where the Ducks lost to Kansas State 56-68.

Oregon started off the game hot due to incredible plays by Syndey Parrish. Parrish was fouled early, and capitalized for two easy 3s to bounce Oregon to an 8-3 lead early in the game. With this momentum, the Ducks offense continued to score throughout the game and didn’t trail anytime in the game after this point.

A key to Oregon's success was the return of Endyia Rogers, Nyara Sabally and Te-Hina Paopao to the lineup. All three of these players have been dealing with injuries this season, and tonight was the first game that all three played together again, and each contributed to the Duck's explosive win.

Sabally led the team with 15 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Rogers finished the game with 12 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Paopao added another 12 points, 1 assist and 1 steal.

After a tough night of shooting against Kansas State, Oregon finished the game shooting 53% from the field and 30% from three. Comparatively, Carroll shot 47% from the field and 47% from three.

The Ducks were almost unstoppable in the paint.Oregon had 56 points in the paint compared to Carroll's 18. The Saints couldn't match the Duck's height. The Saints have 4 players at/above 6'0, while the Ducks only have 5 players who are not that height.

Oregon's defense was also playing incredibly well. As a team, Oregon had 21 steals, and forced 30 turnovers from Carroll. These defensive plays solidified the lead Oregon built throughout the entire game.

After this game, The Ducks now sit at (7-4) and Carroll College is at (14-3). Barring any postponements from the Pac-12 due to COVID-related reasons, Oregon will set its sights on Stanford on January 7.
