Tez Johnson, Oregon Receivers Show Out Against USC

Story by Isaac Dubey

The Ducks offense caught lightning in a bottle early in the game against USC. On their second play of offense, Tez Johnson found the endzone on a 77-yard receiving touchdown. Johnson was able to spin out of a tackle and burst up the field to find the endzone. On the ensuing Oregon drive, Troy Franklin joined the party and scored his own 84-yard receiving touchdown on the Ducks' third play of offense. This was Franklin's longest receiving touchdown of his career.

The connection between Nix and Johnson has been noteworthy as of recent. When the Heisman contender has needed a big play, he's often looked Johnson's way. On a broken-down play halfway through the third quarter, Nix scrambled to his right and found Johnson wide open in the endzone for his second receiving touchdown of the night.

Johnson has caught fire the last two games with over 300 yards receiving in that span. He finished this game with seven catches, for 126 yards, and 2 Touchdowns. With an established number one receiver in Troy Franklin, the question has been who will step up in the number two role. Johnson has been up for the task as of recent and credits Franklin in challenging him to score when he gets ball.

Johnson will look to continue this tear in Tempe, Arizona against the Sundevils next week. As Oregon hopes to keep their contention for a National Title alive, contributions from the Junior receiver may be key moving forward.
