On a chilly, Halloween night at Pape Field, the Oregon Ducks faced the 11th ranked USC Trojans on the soccer pitch, losing a close 1-0 game after a Penelope Hocking goal in the 77th minute proved to be all that was needed for the Women of Troy. The Ducks held tough against the highly touted USC squad for the first half, but around the 70th minute, the Trojans began accumulating a lot of quality shots with an aggressive attack, and eventually one poked through, despite goalkeeper Katelyn Carter's best efforts. The Ducks nearly knotted it up in the final stages of the game off a Caitlin Shaw rocket, but the Trojans goalkeeper made the save of the night, leaping and lunging to her left to make a spectacular save. Oregon now moves to 1-6-2 in Pac-12 play, but will look to improve upon that mark on Sunday as they will face the UCLA Bruins, once again in Eugene at 1 pm.
