STORY: Oregon Baseball Ninth Inning Rally Gives Ducks 4-3 Win Over Seattle

The Oregon Baseball team opened their season against Seattle after last week's four game series was cancelled. After eight innings, the Ducks were still searching for their first run of the season. The Ducks would explode for four runs in the ninth to walk it off.

Seattle took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Matt Boissoneault double. The Redhawks expanded their lead in the third inning with a two-RBI double from Justin Mazzone. Oregon starter Nico Tellache gave up three earned runs (five hits and one walk) in five innings for his first career start. The Oregon bullpen would keep the Ducks alive, allowing only four baserunners in four innings. The story of the first eight innings for Oregon's bats was eight consecutive outs with runners in scoring positions. The Ducks racked up twelve baserunners in the first eight innings but failed to score.

Aaron Zavala led the charge for the Ducks all game. In five plate appearances, Zavala had three singles and two walks. After leading off the ninth with a single, a hit batter and an error loaded the bases for Oregon. With the tying run on first base with one out, Sam Olsson blooped a single into the outfield that was nearly caught. With the tying run on second base, Sam Novitske bounced a hard hit ground ball off an infielder's glove for a two-run single. With the game tied 3-3, Jack Scanlon walked off the game on a sacrifice fly. The ninth inning rally gave the Ducks a 4-3 victory in their season opener. The 1-0 Ducks are slated to play Seattle three more times this weekend.
