SB: Oregon State Walks Off In Thrilling 4-3 Victory

Oregon Softball was dealt a blow Friday afternoon, as the 5th-ranked Ducks were taken down 4-3 by rival Oregon State in a hectic final few innings. Pitcher Miranda Elish held things scoreless until the 4th inning, and Oregon seemed poised time and again to score early on. However, it was the Beavers coming through with one run in the 4th to chase Elish, and another two in the frame off of Maggie Balint, who relieved her fellow sophomore. The Ducks struck for two in the 5th, and senior catcher Gwen Svekis leveled the game in the top of the 7th with a solo shot to seemingly extend the game to extras. In the end, though, Oregon State got the last laugh on Hope Brandner's walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the frame. Oregon drops to 26-6 on the year with the loss, 3-2 in Pac-12 play, while the Beavers moved to 20-14 on the year, 3-5 in conference. The win ends Oregon State's 16 game losing streak over the Ducks, and sets up a rubber match in the final game of the series, which will take place Saturday at 3PM.
