Sabrina Ionescu Dials Up Triple-Double Number Nineteen in Oregon Blowout Victory

Last year the Texas Southern Men's Basketball team stunned the Oregon Ducks in Matthew Knight arena. On November 16th, Texas Southern returned to the court as the women's team challenged the #1 ranked Ducks.

Oregon ran away to a 10-0 lead and never looked back. Sabrina Ionescu had a great first half with 5 points, 7 assists, and 10 rebounds. Meanwhile Ruthy Hebard was a focal point for the Ducks offense. Hebard made nine field goals on twelve attempts in the first half, while the entire Texas Southern team only made eight baskets. At halftime the ducks led 52-21, with Hebard accounting for 21 points herself.

The second half was no different as Sabrina Ionescu accomplished her nineteenth triple-double of her career midway through the third quarter on a made free throw. Ionescu finished with 10 points, 14 assists, and 13 rebounds. Sophomore Taylor Chavez had a strong outing with 11 points. Ruthy Hebard finished a monster performance with 31 points (14 for 18) and 13 rebounds. It was a team effort as nine different Ducks made at least two baskets, and the defense stifled Texas Southern. The Tigers finished with 36% from the field and 63 points.

Oregon takes their 99-63 victory and has an eight-day rest before traveling to New York to face the Syracuse Orange. The Orange nearly defeated the Ducks last year in their home opener and went on to be a #3 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
