EUGENE, Ore. - The Tracy Joyner era of Oregon Women’s Soccer (1-0-1) stays unbeaten in a scoreless draw against the Portland Pilots (0-0-1).

In the 12th minute, an offensive attack, spearheaded by sophomore midfielder Carly Cormack, gave the Ducks their first clear shot on the goal, but sixth-year senior Taylor Bryan missed just to the right of the goalpost. Just a minute later, forward Lauren Kenny also missed to the right.

Bryan, coming off a two-goal game against Weber State, took a shot on the bottom right corner in the 19th minute, but it was saved by Pilots goalkeeper Sophia Hills.

Portland’s first shot on goal came in the 24th minute, with Hailey Still taking a strike right into the hands of Oregon’s goalkeeper Caeley Goldstein.

A stoppage came in the 26th minute after a tie-up, which led to Bryan receiving medical attention on the pitch, but she quickly reentered the game after play resumed.

Both teams struggled to find momentum on the offensive front heading into halftime and coming out of the break.

That was until the 61st minute when Nevaeh Peregrina took a shot wide left for the Pilots, which got the ball rolling. The Ducks had a shot of their own on goal in the 63rd minute from Jayde Holley, but it was saved by Hills.

In the 64th minute, Portland responded with Hailey Bagby taking a shot on goal, before it was punched away by Goldstein. The chaotic couple of minutes concluded with Cloe Chase taking a shot for Oregon in the 66th minute from the top of the penalty box, but with a little too much height.

In a last-gasp effort by the Ducks, Holley took a deep shot from 20 yards out that brushed off the top of the net in the 86th minute.

Oregon will look to stay unbeaten, traveling to Waipahu, Hawaii, in the OUTRIGGER Soccer Kickoff, against Sacramento State on Aug. 21 and Hawai’i on Aug. 24th.
