Oregon Volleyball won a thrilling five set victory over the Washington Huskies in Seattle. Washington had won five of their last six matches, and were determined to defeat the Ducks on senior night. The Ducks struggled early, coming out flat and losing set one 25-16, The Huskies hit .385 and served four aces in that set. Oregon came back strong though, winning set two 25-23 behind an impressive 18 kills, six of which came from Willow Johnson. Set three was one of Oregon's worse sets of the season as the Huskies ran all over the Ducks 25-12 behind seven kills from Kara Bajema. Washington hit an astounding .556 in that set, taking advantage of Oregon's poor defense. Just when Oregon appeared to be doomed, Lindsey Vander Weide, Willow Johnson, and August Raskie stepped up big time to win set four 25-20. That set up a very important set five, and Oregon played a very strong team effort to win that set 15-13 and take the match. Ronika Stone stepped up after a quiet performance to get the game-winning kill for the Ducks. Oregon, who was without Taylor Borup in this match, saw very impressive performances from Willow Johnson (15 kills, .353, 4 blocks) and Lindsey Vander Weide (18 kills, .326, 17 digs.) Perhaps the most impressive performance was from August Raskie, who nearly put together her second triple double of the season (8 kills, 61 assists, 12 digs.) For the Huskies, it was all Kara Bajema (21 kills, .415, 15 digs), but Oregon was able to contain her at important times. The Ducks move up into a tie for second place in the Pac-12 and add another win to their resume in hopes of hosting part of the NCAA tournament. They'll be back in action in Corvallis on 7:00 PM on Saturday to take on the Oregon State Beavers.
