After having their 6 game winning streak snapped by the Colorado Buffaloes on Tuesday, the Oregon Ducks men's basketball team defeated the Oregon State Beavers 78-56 on Saturday night at Matthew Knight Arena. It was the first time the Ducks have swept the season series in 5 years, as Oregon dominated this game on both ends of the floor shooting 55% for the game, and holding the Beavers to 30% shooting.
Guard Jacob Young led Oregon scorers with 17 points on an efficient 6-10 shooting, and his backcourt running mate Will Richardson added 15 points in just 25 minutes. It was an incredibly efficient night for the Ducks,
However, potentially the most impactful player on both ends of the court was N'Faly Dante. He only had 9 points, but added 10 rebounds (including 5 offensive), 3 blocks, and 2 steals. Backup big Frank Kepnang also added value as a rim protector as well adding 2 blocks off the bench. The two big men were a huge reason why Oregon was able to
Halftime was a spectacle as well for the Oregon crowd. After Eric Williams Jr. hit a three quarter court shot to put the Ducks up 19 at the half new head football coach Dan Lanning addressed the Oregon home crowd for one of the first times in person on campus.
It was another tough performance against the Ducks for Oregon State's Jerod Lucas. The Beavers' leading scorer only scored 12 points, and it seemed like a majority of his shots were tough looks at the end of the shot clock. The Beavers could never seem to get it going offensively, as they scored 13 points under their season average.
After a nice win against the Beavers the Ducks face their next challenge on Thursday. After losing to Colorado at home the Ducks will look to defeat the Buffaloes in a revenge game in Boulder on Thursday. Head coach Dana Altman has never won a game in Boulder with the Ducks.
