FB STORY | The Oregon Ducks Blow Out The Colorado Buffaloes in their PAC-12 Opener.

Written and Audio Story by Wilder Lewis

The #10 overall Ducks came into the game looking to stay undefeated and snag their 4th win of the year as they went up the #19 Colorado Buffaloes who looked to also stay undefeated on the year.

The game started out with the Ducks getting the ball first, and they did not waste any time getting things going as they had 3 straight plays of 10+ yards to get into the Colorado half. The drive eventually capped off by a Noah Whittington 3 yard rush. Oregon's defense also didn't waste any time getting fired up as they, during Colorado's first drive, as they were able to hold Shedeur Sanders and the Buffs to -1 yards and a 3 and out drive. This trend remained fairly constant until there were 9 minutes left in the first half where Oregon scored their 3rd straight touchdown and Colorado still hadn't even seen the Ducks side of the field.

The Buffaloes defense was finally able to get a few things going as they gave Oregon QB Bo Nix his first interception of the year thanks to Jahquez Robinson. Yet even after this Colorado's offense wasn't able to do anything against the Oregon defense. By the end of the first half Oregon were leading 35-0 and already had over 300 yards of total offense including 100+ yards for Troy Franklin, 80+ yards for Bucky Irving, and defensively they had 4 sacks and did not allow a single point for the Buffs.

In the second half Oregon didn't let up at all as they were able to hold Colorado on their opening drive of the half, with a little help from some penalties, and get the ball back quickly. Offensively for the Ducks Bo Nix and the team were able to get right back on track themselves and scored their 6th touchdown of the day putting them up 42-0 with 9 minutes left in the 3rd. Colorado would again go 3 and out on their next drive. Thankfully for the Buffs the defense was able to hold the high flying Ducks on the 5 yards line after and nice drive keeping the score the same going into the 4th quarter.

It was more of the same in the 4th as the Buffs, after more penalties against them found themselves punting again, and it really seemed as tho the Buffs were going 1 step forwards and 2 steps back the entire game. At this point Oregon had brought out their backups and just tried to kill out the game as quick as possible. This resulted in Oregon having their only 2 punts of the day. However sandwiched in between the punts was the only ray of light from Colorado's offense on the day as the Buffs were able to finally get a drive together. Highlighted by a 21 yard play by Weaver and capped off by a 6 yard touchdown pass caught by Michael Harrison. The extra point would be blocked though and after back to back punts for both teams the game would end 42-6 as Oregon played a near perfect game.

The Oregon Ducks ended the game with 30 total first down, 522 total yards of offense, and 7 sacks. This was highlighted by 276 yards for Bo Nix, 89 for Irving, 126 and 2 TD's for Franklin, and defensively Jordan Burch lead to way for the Ducks with 2 sacks. For the Buffaloes the offense and defense had a rough one today as they only had 13 first downs resulting in 199 total yards and only 2 sacks.

The Ducks were able to stay hot thanks to a near perfect game from the team. Their next game will be this coming Saturday down in Stanford where they face their first away game of the PAC-12 season where they look to go 5-0 on the year.
