FB | Oregon overcomes emotional first half to decimate USC 56-24 in LA

After a topsy turvy opening half on Saturday, No. 7 Oregon responded by blowing out USC 56-24 with an emphatic second half performance in Los Angeles. The Ducks, now 8-1 overall and 6-0 in Pac-12 play, leaned on the defense's four disruptive turnovers, converting each Trojan mistake into touchdowns the other way. While the offense was flat in the opening half, Justin Herbert collected himself in the second and found a new redzone threat in Penn State transfer Juwan Johnson. The 6-foot-4 receiver hauled in his first, second, and third career touchdown passes at Oregon and helped ignite the Ducks' second half spree. USC, now 5-4 overall and 4-2 in conference play, falls out of a tie with Utah for first-place in the Pac-12 South as the Ducks continue to cement themselves as the leader in the Pac-12 North. Oregon heads into a bye week and awaits the College Football Playoff committee's debut 2019 rankings on Tuesday to see if they will continue to ascend into the national conversation.
