Oregon Football closed their regular season with a 55-15 victory in the 122nd Civil War in Corvallis, losing Justin Herbert to an upper-body injury in the process. Braxton Burmeister filled in for Herbert after half, but in reality, freshmen tailbacks CJ Verdell and Travis Dye replaced the star quarterback's production. Dye posted career-highs with 33 carries for 199 yards, chipping in a touchdown in the process, while Verdell needed just 24 touches to reach career-highs of 208 yards from scrimmage and five total touchdowns. Burmeister attempted just two passes, completing one for 16 yards; before the injury, Herbert went 9-12 through the air for 102 yards and a touchdown to Verdell.
The Ducks raced out of the gates under initially amenable weather conditions, scoring touchdowns on two of their first three drives in a dry Reser Stadium. Oregon State added a field goal before halftime but missed an opportunity midway through the second quarter, when third-string quarterback Jack Colletto's jump-pass was intercepted by Nick Pickett on 2nd-and-goal. While Oregon didn't score on the ensuing drive, they turned three second-half turnovers into three touchdowns to build upon their 21-3 halftime lead. The Beavers managed to reply to Oregon's fourth touchdown of the day when Luton led them on a three-play, 79-yard tour down the field, but they wouldn't manage to reach the end zone again until just 16 seconds remained in the game.
Oregon ends the regular season at 8-4, a one-win improvement upon last season, and now awaits not just their bowl bid, but also information on Herbert's injury near the close of 2018.
