#11 Oregon Baseball (30-11) defeated Washington (17-24) 9-3, completing the series sweep of the Huskies. Oregon, now 14-7 in conference, grabbed their second PAC-12 sweep of the season after doing so against Oregon State a month. With few runs to start games this weekend, Oregon and Washington changed that: Noah Hsue was brought home via an error in the first, Gabe Matthews responded for Oregon with a solo homer, then in the top of the second with zero outs designated hitter Michael Brown crushed a ball over the wall in left-center giving Washington a 2-1 lead.
Similar to Saturday’s game when Washington had an early lead, Oregon soon dominated the middle innings. Kenyon Yovan went 2-5 this afternoon including a solo shot in the fourth to tie up the affair. The fifth inning is where it exploded for Oregon putting up five runs. Yovan again got the scoring going with a single to left field driving in Gavin Grant. Moments later Oregon had the bases loaded and Aaron Zavala delivered with a triple grabbing his 24th,25th, and 26th RBIs of the campaign along with a commanding 6-2 lead. Zavala was eventually awarded the privilege he gave to three others being brought in by a Kasevich single capping off the fifth. Zavala wasn’t tired of touching home plate hitting an absolute bomb in the seventh and two batters later, Anthony Hall did the same. Hall's long-ball to right-center field was good for his third of the season. Oregon tied this season's high for home runs in a game with four, set against USC.
Brett Walker went seven innings, allowing seven hits, two earned runs, and striking out five while picking up his fifth win of the season. Washington pitcher Adam Bloebaum allowed four earned runs on four hits and was credited with the loss to move to 1-4. Depending on how others perform in the top-10, Oregon could find themselves in that elite company after winning the weekend by a combined score of 22-4. With the Gonzaga series canceled, Oregon heads to Ogden next weekend to face Utah (11-26, 6-16).
