Eden Hardy's Stellar Performance Propels Oregon Soccer to Victory over Northern Arizona

Game Story By: Xaiver Aguiar

The Oregon Ducks defeated the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks 4-2 Sunday afternoon in a game entertaining from start to finish. The Papé Field faithful watched their Ducks improve to 2-0-1 on the season and continue their offensive brilliance.

It took less than a minute for Oregon to get on the board, as Eden Hardy showed her blazing speed, dribbling through a few Lumberjack defenders and putting the ball in the back of the net. Duck fans probably thought this would be an easy game for the team, but Northern Arizona had other plans.

Goals from Rylee Mitchell and Kylie Kapustka within 20 minutes of each other gave the Lumberjacks a surprising 2-1 lead. Oregon's dominance of possession didn't seem to matter, as fouls and counter-attacks gave Northern Arizona chances they were able to execute.

The Ducks realized the situation at hand and decided to put their foot on the gas. In the waning moments of the first half, Kaityln Paculba was able to score her second goal as a Duck, to make the sides level heading into the break.

The second half was pure Oregon dominance. Eden Hardy showed off her passing skills with a beautiful cross that Ally Cook headed into the back of the net to give the Ducks the advantage in the 57th minute. Hardy didn't stop there, scoring a brace in the 82nd minute to put the game out of harm's way.

Oregon will have a chance to add to their impressive Friday against the University of California Santa Barbara under the lights at Papé Field. That game will start at 7 P.M Pacific and can be listened to on KWVA Eugene 88.1 FM.
