No. 14 Oregon softball (20-1) steamrolled Loyola Chicago (3-15) in the series finale of the Oregon Classic and opening weekend at Jane Sanders Stadium. The Ducks were down 1-0 until the fourth inning, when they finally caught fire and started putting numbers on the board.

The Ducks stepped onto the field looking to continue their undefeated streak at home and add to their nearly flawless record, with their only loss coming against Arizona State over two weeks ago in the Littlewood Classic.

Scoring was scarce up until mid-game when Oregon decided to flip the switch. Sophomore Taylour Spencer pitched all five innings, only giving up one hit, a solo homer in the second. Spencer also boosted her season strikeout total with three punchouts, bringing her to 24 strikeouts across 24 ⅓ innings this season.

‘“I was frustrated, but after that pitch I said, ‘Next time she comes up to bat, I'm gonna strike her out,’” Spencer said. “And I did.”

Dezianna Patmon and Kedre Luschar shined offensively as they both blasted bombs out to left field at the bottom of the fifth.

“Kedre had one of the best weekends I’ve seen a player have,” associate head coach Sam Marder said. “I hope that she gets recognized for that because she was MVP of our tournament.”

Sophomore Braiesey Rosa also delivered a standout performance, gunning down a would-be base stealer from behind the plate and recording her first career hit with an RBI double in the fifth.

“I’m so happy for her. She’s such a great woman and wants so badly to do well,” Marder said. “I hope that it continues to spark more at-bats with really good results. Sometimes you just need one kind of breakthrough.”

Kai Luschar ended the game with an RBI single to the left that extended Oregon’s lead to eight, enforcing the run-rule for the win. With five victories this weekend, the Ducks have now won 15 consecutive games.

Next on the schedule for the Ducks is the Jane Sanders Classic, where they will start the weekend off on Friday, hosting No. 8 Florida State at 6:00 p.m.
